This villa is no longer available from 16 - 30/06, 7/7 till 25/08 and 1 till 15/9/2012 .
A comfortable and well-furnished villa sleeping 4 with a superb swimming pool and terraces boasting views over the famous vineyards of the Aude valley to the Pyrenees beyond. It´s ideally located for holiday accommodation of this type - on the outskirts of a village but near to local towns and attractions, and convenient to a choice of airports.
The villa is in a quiet lane within easy walking distance of the centre of La Liviniere, one of the most picturesque villages of the Minervois with its own supermarket, boulangerie and restaurant. There are numerous independent caves (wine producers) in the village which has a prestigious record for its own cru Appellation.
La Colline aux Pins has a double bedroom with luxurious en suite, and a spacious living room with a large convertible settee providing a second double bed - a cot can be provided. The inclusive kitchen is well-appointed with dining for up to 6, and there is also a separate WC and shower room.
Of course the external space is just as important as indoors and the beautiful pool (44ft x 16.5ft with Roman steps) has terraces and a wide covered barbecue area for those glorious hot days and warm sultry evenings. You´ll get all the enjoyment of a home in the South of France, and a special welcome from the owner who lives on the other side of the shady 0,55 hectare garden.
Surroundings
The Mediterranean with long sandy beaches and etangs renowned for their oysters, is less than an hour´s drive away. You´re in the heart of Cathar country with myriad castles, the dramatic fortress Minerve and the fairytale towers of Carcassonne.
The Canal du Midi is just down the road - hire a boat and you can enjoy its green, cool glades. Or visit the stupendous Gouffre de Cabrestine, a great cavern bigger than the Eiffel Tower.
Those who love exploring towns will enjoy the ancient Roman town of Narbonne, famed for its shops and colourful daily market.
You could luxuriate in the scented gardens of Roquebrun or simply enjoy the countryside of garrigue scrub, limestone rocks and cliffs, and vineyards. It´s great for walking or cycling and the wines of the region can be explored and savoured by visits to the vineyards. Down the road is Olonzac, just 15 minutes´ drive away. With 3 restaurants and 2 café/bars, you can sit in the square and watch the world go by, or on Tuesday explore the fantastic market, one of the largest in the region.
You can hire bikes in a village somewhat north of Cesseras (see: Minervois Biking ) and there are several places where you can do canoeing.
