| Le Tilleul (Les Grangeonnes)
Les Grangeonnes Les Grangeonnes is to be found 9 km south of Lamastre in the Ardèche and consists of 3 ha of forest and meadows. Lamastre has all commodities. The nearest supermarket is only 6 km away. Les Grangeonnes is in a peaceful setting, backed by mountains and forests and with fantastic views to the valley. Three guesthouses / cottages are at your disposal here (Le Tilleul, La Bibliothèque and Le Papillon ), with two extra cabins that can serve as additonal twin bedrooms (without sanitary facilities). Set centrally in the garden is the so called ´summer kitchen´, a place to meet, to barbecue, to have a drink together and enjoy the great view. There is a private pool of 4.00 x 8.00 meter with water from a source, kept clean by salt. (There is no lifeguard on duty - guests swim at their own risk. All children under the age of 12 must be supervised in the pool at all times. ) Le Tilleul Semi-detached, with its back to ´La Bibliothèque´, is this house with (private) grass terrace and view to the lovely chestnut trees. Description: Living room with wood stove and TV, kitchen with fridge, 4-burner gascooker, microwave-oven-combination, book corner, two twin bedrooms, bathroom with toilet, shower and wash basin. Possibility of renting one or two extra twin bedrooms (cabins). Central heating. Les Cabanes Two twin bedroom without sanitary equipment that can be rented extra, together with one of the cottages (100€ / week). Surroundings Saint Basile is situated in the Valley of the Doux, where you can make lovely walks: 750 km marked walks of varying lengths (to obtain at the Tourist Office in Lamastre). Or make an impressive tour by car, e.g. to the Mont Mezenc (1745 m) and the Gerbier de Jonc, with their beautiful flower fields. Through the valley of the Doux, between Lamastre and Tournon, on a rail-line maintained by volunteers runs an old steam train several times a day. The scenery of this tour consists of rough nature, small tunnels, bridges over the river and steep mountain sides. Towns nearby are Valence, Le Puy and St. Etienne, approximately 1 - 2 hours driving through an ever changing landscape. In Lamastre you will find 2 big supermarkets and on Tuesday mornings there is a market. You can also hire a bike here. Other landmarks include: Waterfall of Ray-Pic, St. Agrève, Désaignes, Rochebonne, the ruins of the Chartreuse de Bonnefoi, and the lake of Devesset (supervised bathing, sailing, pedaloes, walks). | ||||||||||||||||||||||
